Fic [Hetalia]: Least & Most - France, Canada gen
Title: Least & Most
Rating: PG
Word Count: 225
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Summary: Francis thinks about lil' Matt.
Just because Francis doesn't remember drinking anything, doesn't mean he won't swear he was drunk when he handed over his beloved Matthieu to England's care. It's not that he thinks Arthur to be a bad parent (there's something very constant about England, after all), but in hindsight, little Canada is worth so much more than sugar, even if his government seems to think otherwise. But even if his own foolishness surprises him, he can't regret his actions entirely. After all, the boy tried to hide his joy at permanently living with his twin. Francis knows he hid it to save his papa's feelings, but still, his petite should not have been afraid of saying his true heart.
While it's true that he trusts England, for the most part, to do right... he can't help checking in. He doesn't come out and say that he never ceased in his affections for the child. He doesn't say how much he misses the boy's strange phrasing and the odd-sounding words uttered in his sleep. He doesn't say how much those wide innocent eyes remind him of Jeanne, his love lost so long ago to fire and politics. He doesn't mention the dreams he entertained before he gave up his son.
Instead, he just knocks, enters, teases, greets, smiles and supports.
It's the least and most he can do.
