Fic [Ultimate Spider-man]: Aloe For That Burn? - Jessica/Johnny
Title: Aloe For That Burn?
Rating: PG
Word Count: 264
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Summary: Johnny should know, but he doesn't.
He stares at it for a good twenty-five seconds.
"Yep. That's definitely a burn."
She's starting to feel annoyed.
"And... yes? Your point?"
"Shouldn't we put aloe vera on it or something?"
"It's not a sunburn, Johnny! It's a little casualty of going up against a psycho with a red hot poker. He's face-first on the pavement in web-cuffs, and I, for one, would like to just move on, grab a sandwich at Tasty Tee's, and let my one, insignificant wound air out a little. 'Cause yes, it smarts."
"But... it's a burn. We should do something. Like... I dunno, put water on it? Maybe visit the med wing of the Baxter Build--"
"I already did that and no!"
"We shouldn't do nothing!"
"Why not?"
"Because.. because..."
He doesn't really have an answer. And Jess doesn't feel much like talking.
The sandwich is procured.
The eating begins.
The munching continues.
Until...
"I just feel like I should know, y'know? But I don't."
"Huh?" It's the most eloquent answer Jessica has right now.
"Burns. I don't... I turn into one giant fireball... but I don't even know what to do, exactly, when somebody gets burnt."
"Running water, Ibuprofen, and 911.... er, that's what Aunt May always said."
"No, I mean like with yours... where it's not serious, but just... there. And all hurt-y. Making you all grumpy."
The sandwich is forgotten.
"Well... if you try not to touch it... you can hug me."
The hug is warm and lights a tiny fire in her belly.
It makes the worst of the pain go away.
